Sporting KC, the MLS team in Kansas City, has finished their brand new soccer specific stadium, Livestrong Sporting Park. It cost an estimated $200 million to build and will, hopefully be a boost to both MLS and the KC community.
From the Clubs website:
LIVESTRONG Sporting Park is revolutionizing the way people engage in the fight against cancer by harnessing the passion and commitment of fans through the community of sports and entertainment. Located in Kansas City, LIVESTRONG Sporting Park is the first philanthropic stadium in the world.
Sporting Club and the sport of soccer provide LIVESTRONG a great opportunity to spread health and wellness messages that underscore the spirit of cancer survivorship.
That's pretty cool that the sponsorship of the stadium is not just interested in raking in the cash. The stadium itself looks pretty nice too.
In addition to being the home of Sporting KC, the stadium will also host other events. Most notable this summer is 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup matches. Canada vs. Panama and United States vs. Guadeloupe will be held back to back on June 14.

My sister is moving to KC later this month so I may have to chance to visit and take a trip to see a Sporting match. Fingers crossed.
